What Is an AppLovin Partner Agency? Meaning, Verification and Limits

Partner status is a real signal, but a narrow one. Here is what the AppLovin partner label actually tells you, how to check it, and what to ask next.

An AppLovin partner agency is an agency with a working relationship with AppLovin. AppLovin runs a program for agencies, and its agency page describes 1:1 dedicated agency support for the agencies in it (AppLovin for agencies). Partner status confirms the agency is known to AppLovin. It does not prove the agency is good at running the channel.

This guide explains what the AppLovin partner label signals, how to verify it, what it does and does not guarantee, and the questions to ask any AppLovin partner before you sign.

What being an AppLovin partner agency means

At its core, partner status signals one thing: the agency works with AppLovin directly, not just as another advertiser with a login.

The practical benefit is support. AppLovin's agency page offers agencies 1:1 dedicated agency support "for pitching, onboarding, and scaling client campaigns" (AppLovin for agencies). When an account hits a setup question, a policy issue or a scaling problem, a partner agency has a team at AppLovin it can raise it with.

What partner status does not describe is skill. It does not tell you how much AppLovin spend the agency manages, which verticals it knows, how much creative it can produce or what results it has delivered. The word "partner" also gets used loosely on agency websites, so treat the label as a claim to verify, then as a starting point for harder questions.

Why AppLovin partner status still matters in 2026

For years, AppLovin's ecommerce product was invite only. From October 2025 to June 2026, brands needed a referral code to get in, and on June 22, 2026 AppLovin Ads opened to any business (AppLovin). Our post on whether you still need an AppLovin referral code covers that change.

Open access means you no longer need a partner to get an account. Partner status still matters for three reasons:

  1. A direct line to AppLovin. Dedicated agency support helps with onboarding, policy questions and account issues.
  2. Pattern knowledge. A partner running several accounts sees what works across brands faster than a single advertiser can.
  3. Accountability. A partner has a relationship with AppLovin to protect.

The platform is worth getting right. Advertisers spend over $11B a year on AppLovin (AppLovin), and Axon is the AI engine that decides which ad each person sees (Modern Retail). If you are new to the channel, start with what AppLovin advertising is.

How to verify an AppLovin partner

Do not take a badge on a website at face value. Check it:

  1. Check AppLovin's partner directory. Search for the agency by name. If you cannot find it, ask the agency to show you where it is listed.
  2. Ask AppLovin. If you already have an AppLovin contact, ask them to confirm the agency's status.
  3. Ask for the AppLovin contact. A real partner agency can usually name the AppLovin team members it works with.
  4. Check the account setup. Your ad account should be created under your business, with the agency added as a user or partner, not the other way round.
  5. Ask what the relationship includes. A genuine partner can explain what support it gets from AppLovin and how it uses that support on client accounts.

Signs a partner claim is stretched

  • The agency uses AppLovin's logo prominently but cannot explain what its relationship with AppLovin involves.
  • Its only AppLovin proof is a referral link or a sign-up code.
  • It describes itself as "certified" without naming what the certification is or who issued it.
  • Its case studies are all from Meta or Google, with AppLovin added to the service list.
  • It wants to create the ad account in its own name "to use the partner benefits".

None of these prove bad faith on their own. Together, they suggest the partner label is doing more work than the track record.

What AppLovin partner status does and does not guarantee

Partner status tells youPartner status does not tell you
The agency has a working relationship with AppLovinHow much AppLovin spend it manages today
It can access AppLovin's dedicated agency supportWhether it has scaled a brand like yours
Its status can be checked with AppLovin or its partner directoryIts CPA or ROAS results
It is known to AppLovin, not just another advertiserWhether it can produce enough creative
It has something to lose if it misrepresents AppLovinWhether its tracking and reporting are sound

Results vary a lot by execution. In Triple Whale's study of 755 ecommerce shops, 61% of qualifying shops saw higher ROAS from AppLovin than from other channels (Triple Whale). That is a strong number, and it also means many shops did not. Partner status will not put you in the 61%. Creative, tracking and daily management will.

How to evaluate an AppLovin partner's case studies

Once partner status checks out, case studies are the best evidence you will get before you sign. Read them critically:

  • AppLovin only. The results should come from AppLovin campaigns, not a blend of every channel the agency ran.
  • The full set of numbers. Look for vertical, monthly spend, timeframe, CPA and ROAS together. A ROAS figure with no spend behind it tells you little.
  • The starting point. Ask what the account looked like before the agency took over. Scaling a new account and rescuing a stalled one are different skills.
  • How results were measured. Platform ROAS, blended MER and holdout tests can give very different answers. Ask which one the case study uses.
  • How recent it is. AppLovin's ecommerce product has changed quickly, so ask when the results were achieved and whether the agency is running similar accounts today.
  • Relevance to you. A result in a similar category, price point and spend range is worth more than a bigger number from a very different business.

Anonymous case studies are normal, since many brands do not allow their names to be used. Missing numbers are not. If an agency can share a reference call with a current client, take it.

When an AppLovin partner agency makes the most sense

A partner agency is most useful when one or more of these is true:

  • You want to launch fast. A partner that has set up the pixel or Shopify app, the account structure and the first creative round many times can compress weeks of trial and error. Our AppLovin launch checklist shows how many moving parts there are.
  • You plan to scale past a test budget. Scaling brings new problems, from creative fatigue to tracking gaps. Direct support from AppLovin helps when something blocks growth.
  • You cannot produce creative at volume. AppLovin is a video first channel. An agency with a creative team closes that gap.
  • You want a second opinion on measurement. An agency that runs many accounts can tell you whether your numbers look normal for the channel.

If you already have a strong in-house growth team, a steady creative pipeline and clean tracking, running AppLovin yourself is a reasonable choice. We compare both routes in AppLovin in-house vs agency.

6 questions to ask an AppLovin partner agency

  1. How can I verify your partner status? A directory listing or confirmation from AppLovin, not just a logo.
  2. How much AppLovin spend do you manage per month? AppLovin only, not all channels, and how many accounts are at your spend level.
  3. Can I see AppLovin case studies with spend, CPA and ROAS? Anonymous is fine. No numbers is not.
  4. How many new creatives will you ship per week? And who makes them, how fast, and at what cost per asset.
  5. What will I pay at my current and target spend? Every fee in writing, and whether the spend fee is capped.
  6. Who owns the ad account, pixel and creatives? The answer should be you.

FAQ

What is an AppLovin partner agency?

It is an agency with a working relationship with AppLovin. AppLovin's agency page describes 1:1 dedicated agency support for agencies in its program. Partner status confirms a relationship, not performance.

How do I verify an AppLovin partner?

Search for the agency in AppLovin's partner directory, ask the agency to show its listing, and if you have an AppLovin contact, ask them to confirm. Also check that your ad account is created under your own business.

Does an AppLovin partner agency get better results?

Not automatically. Partner status gives an agency direct support and a relationship with AppLovin, but results depend on creative volume, tracking, testing and daily management. Ask for AppLovin specific case studies with spend, CPA and ROAS.

Do I need an AppLovin partner to advertise on AppLovin?

No. AppLovin Ads opened to any business on June 22, 2026. Before that, brands needed an invite or, from October 2025, a referral code. A partner is now a choice, not a requirement.

Is AppLovin partner status the same as a certification?

Not necessarily. Partner status describes a working relationship with AppLovin, not a skills test. If an agency claims a certification, ask what it is, who issued it and how to verify it.

What should I ask an AppLovin partner agency before hiring?

Ask how to verify its partner status, how much AppLovin spend it manages each month, for AppLovin case studies with spend, CPA and ROAS, how much creative it ships per week, what you will pay at your target spend, and who owns the ad account and creatives.
